Can notaries officiate weddings?

Many people think that if your ceremony is non denominational you need someone impartial. This is where the idea of an notary comes in. Notaries are for legalizing documents..... but this is not true. Notaries do not have the green light to perform wedding ceremonies. To perform wedding ceremonies you must be a ordained Minister, Clergy, Pastor, Rabbi, Priest, judge or some office officials ! At Whitaker Weddings we have Ministers! Our owner Nikeya Whitaker "Queen of I Do's" is a notary and wedding officiant/Minister! Being a notary has the advantage of allowing our couples to know she has been background checked and screen by the State. So being a notary is a plus not an Ordained official!
